    1. EEK I love this book His first book, I m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean was great, but this one is even funnier This will be perfect for an ART storytime and will surely get both kids and parents laughing

    2. Loved I m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean and discovered this on the shelf today Very similar but I enjoyed the art element Fun.

    3. This is a cute book for storytime with young children The giant squid thinks he is the best artist in the ocean, but his paint covered fish friends may not agree

    4. This picture book is colorful and fun, bit the point and message misses the mark The lovable and goofy main character makes a mess of everything with his out of control coloring, and while the final message is intended to be that art is never a mess, it also sends the wrong idea to children, especially young ones, about coloring on things that are not intended to be colored on That being said, the variation in text size and font along with the way it is incorporated into the illustrations makes [...]

    5. I think this book could ve expanded into content about squids or ocean life, but overall it would be a good fit for an early education student or young child The illustrations were a nice addition, and it was neat to have an extra long page within the book, but overall content could have been added into the storyline Topics squid, ocean life, artists, painting, masterpiece, messy vs clean.

    6. This is the story of an Octopus in the Ocean who LOVES to be an artist Even when the other sea creatures don t think he should be an artist he is anyway and ends up drawing a very beautiful masterpiece although some might call it a messterpiece I enjoyed reading this book except for the fact the library I read it in had numerous pages missing and I could not follow along with what was happening Overall it was a good book though.

    7. This was an okay book for me, but I m sure children would like it I liked the big fold out pages near the end that showed his artwork on the whale and how the creature never gave up being an artist despite him making a mess and the other creatures telling him to stop That was a bit inspirational. The illustrations are fun and colorful I enjoyed the art than the story.

    8. It was an okay book Not something I would enjoy reading to kids Apparently I like kid books that are full of excitement, action, and humor Because I have read books to kids and if it s boring for me to read, then it s boring for the kids because it s not easy to keep their attention.

    9. Not quite as clever as the biggest thing in the ocean However, I can see the appeal for those who loved that book.

    10. Like many sequels, this book lacks the impact of its predecessor Did the giant squid paint the shark, or did he jump it

    11. Super cute and funny The kids love it

    12. This book wasting It was cute and would probably be great for younger students And it would be a good book to use if you were starting the kids on painting But I don t know if I would read to my students as it might be a little slow for them.

    13. This was a surprising find for me in the reshelf pile at the library today Unfortunately it wasn t quite as engaging as Sherry s first book, I m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean The illustrations are still good, but the joke isn t nearly as funny and I think why DS fell so in love with the first book was that the idea of being big or wanting to be the biggest to a toddler is very real I ll still look out for other books by him in the future, but I ll probably buy the first book and not this one.

    14. All hail the triumphant return of the giant blue squid This time he is declaring his status as best artist and demonstrates his great skills over and over again The illustrations are as charming as the first book and the text is equally fun and silly Sherry continues with his large format, simplicity that manages to capture perfectly the hubris and zest of a toddler or preschooler.Highly recommended as is the first book Perfect for ages 3 6, and a winner for beginning readers as well.

    15. I m a HUGE fan of I m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean, the prequel to this book I was hoping that the quirky giant squid would capture my imagination again Fortunately, I was not disappointed I can relate to the grouchy shark who shouts NO to the creative, masterpiece creating, messy squid I have a couple of the human versions of messy squid in my home I m the Best Artist in the Ocean reminds me to have patience with the creative juices flowing in my little squids.

    16. All the fish are swimming in the water, swimming in the water, swimming in the waterbubble, bubble, bubble, bubble, splash The great big fishThe little bitty fish Sung to Wheels on the Bus The waves on the sea go up and down, up and down, up and down, the waves on the sea go up and down, all day long. The shark in the sea goes snap, snap, snapThe fish in the sea go swish swish, swishThe boats in the sea to toot, toot, toot

    17. January 2017 cute, but not quite as funny as the first one.January 2018 Ben chose it again, and while the story is light, the illustrations really struck me this time Those endpapers The painting on the whale And Sherry s note about how he made the illustrations boggled my mind I m not sure if he really used glass from a shipwreck, but either way it s an artist s note worth reading.

    18. The book contains a simple story line with very good illustrations about a giant squid who draws all over the place yet happens to upset the other animals of the sea Throughout the story, we were left wondering why This book was very entertaining and the storytime audience of preschool kids, toddlers, parents teachers enjoyed it very much.

    19. The squid in this story squirts ink and he believes he is the best artist in the ocean His friends on the other hand are not quite as impressed as he is with his artwork His friends feel that he is just making a mess Has some good pictures and my kids really liked the pull out pages at the end.

    20. Still a fun read along, but it lacks the simple joy and wit of I m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean

    21. Everyone s favorite giant squid is back now claiming to be the best artist around Very cute and easy to read, this would be great for any storytime about art or the ocean I really liked the first one better though

    22. The irrepressible blue squid is back and this time he s packing a paintbrush clever and perfectly on note, I am a big fan of writer illustrator Kevin Sherry who seems to be channeling Picasso as a toddler when he creates his squidlicious books.

    23. Cute book for discussing art The squid squirts his ink everywhere and makes other animals mad when he uses them as a canvas This is a great book to talk about boundaries when painting and how students need to be careful to keep their materials to themselves.

    24. This book lends itself to be integrated with art for a lesson plan Appropriate grade levels are pre k through 2nd graders In the case that a teacher has to teach special electives this is a book to aid her in lessons

    25. The giant squid from the fabulous I m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean is back and ready to show off his artistic prowess Though not as solid an adventure as the first book, this story will delight fans of the giant squid, and will be enjoyed by budding art afficionados.

    26. A squid is bragging to anyone who will listen about all the things he can draw but someone in the ocean who might be getting drawn on is not happy Cute but for an older crowd who can interpret the pictures to get the humor.

    27. An artistic squid paints and makes a mess No, a MESS terpiece Simple drawings and a fun creative squid not to mention unhappy paint dripped fish The squid s response to a complaining shark is excellent

    28. This book will work well for a story time for ages 4 7 I plan on pairing with similar art themes We will probably try to draw our favorite animals with Sharpies and then use water colors to fill them in, followed up by Crayola markers and wet Q tips Should produce some interesting results.

    29. This book is easy to read and has large words However, the story is not that great It does mention several different sea creatures, and attempt to be funny

    30. I like Kevin Sherry s BIG, bold illustrations The last picture is a fold out and a hoot
